TeamSpeak is an essential platform used by all staff members to communicate to each other and the community. A majority of your presence (including activity) will be determined by your availability on TeamSpeak.

What made you decide to join the staff team? What are your intentions with the staffing role and it's in-game abilities and power?

Well, I have been on the server for a couple months now and watching the current staff team do their thing has been enjoyable, I would like to contribute more to Gateway and help out the community by keeping it safe and enjoyable for all players. Also there has been times where no staff have been on at all to do tickets and prevent bad sports from ruining other people's experience, with my activity and devotion I could definitely boost the amount of active staff on the server.
My intentions are to keep the server free from harassment & bulling, most would agree that some people are not here to roleplay; but would rather bully people for enjoying Star Wars RP, as a mod it would be my main focus to seek out people like that and persuade them to behave more kindly to others on the server.
I would also keep watch on people tool abusing (Staff & Players) to make sure people are not abusing their power.

In a minimum of 50 words, express if and / or how you enjoy helping others? Also include how this will transfer into the staffing role if achieved.

As a SGT in 7th I took pleasure in training cadet's. Helping them learn the ropes and rules of how to play. I would always say "I prefer training cadets over try-outs." to the others and they would look at me as if to say "Are you demented?" Meeting and engaging with new people is a fun learning experience and I can say with 100% certainty that I have never failed to train a cadet. I was even able to handle the mingy ones.
Moving these skills over to the staff role will be a piece of cake because I have good people skills and a very lay-back attitude in my tone of speech, being able to negotiate and explain in a courteous manner what the person did wrong and outline the punishment if needed.

In a minimum of 50 words, if given a trial phase, how will you impact the community and what benefits will you bring to the staff team?

So first off, I'd be very quick on the trigger to snatch a ticket and prove myself to the other staff members that I am able to carry out the request.  Being another friendly voice on the staff team and greeting the players as I teleport behind them to give them tools. I do have previous moderator experience on Gmod (Murder & Prophunt) so I could share some tips and tricks to some of the other Trial Moderators regarding how to deal with problems and give a helping hand to anyone who has a question. Being completely unbiased in my decision making the words "Friend & Foe" become invisible; dishing out any punishment necessary to whoever it may be.

Conditions:

This standard is varied, although a minimum of 20 hours per week is strongly advised. Do you understand that your application’s comments from other staff members are encouraged to be directed as harsh constructive criticism only and should never be intended to insult or discourage?

Not a problem, I already pull roughly 26 hours per week

Scenarios:
Disclaimer Be advised, extremely low effort answers for the following questions will result in your application to be either put on hold until a better standard is reached, or outwrite deleted. Please refer to previously accepted applications (Resolved Application Link) or ask a current staff member to then influence your own unique response. (Any forged responses will result in a denied application)

 

A user is RDMing and insulting other users. You are the only staff available to deal with the situation. What do you do?

First I would !bring the Victim/Witness confirming with them that it was a deliberate act of RDM and if the Victims/Witness have said so I would check logs to confirm that players have indeed killed each other. Then I'd move to !bring [user] (The person RDMing) to take him away from the other players so he cannot kill anyone else, explaining to him that he should stop RDMing and try to be nicer to the other players because they are just trying to have a good time and that RDM is against server rules. Depending on how many the user had killed or if he was genuinely sorry/didn't understand the rules I may let him off with a verbal. (The situation can vary) If I deem it mingy behaviour and NITRP I would give him a !warn [user] Reason RDM x3 or however many he killed.
 

If he isn't listening or attempting to kill me I would strip him of his weapon or !jail user then reiterate what I said previously.
If he proceeds to RDM again I would just ban him immediately. !ban [user] [time] Reason: NITRP | Failure to Obey Staff

If the user disconnects during the sit I would !ban [user] [time] Reason: Disconnect to Avoid Punishment or Failure to Obey Staff

If there is a reason or story behind any of the RDM cases I would follow up with the other players involved to make sure I understand the full picture of the scene.

I would notify the other moderators of what has happened shortly after as well.

 

A user has contested a warn you have given him and proceeds to verbally abuse you, what do you do?

Remind the player to please be nice to staff and all players before checking the contestability of the warn, if the warn was false or has been proved to be incorrect I would check with the other staff online and discuss the situation more with them, using their advice I would make my decision accordingly. If the user is indeed in the wrong and the warn still stands I would explain to the player exactly why he was warned.  If he still wishes to continue to verbally abuse me I would !warn [user] Reason: Staff Abuse then get another staff member to assist me in the situation as my opinion may possibly become biased, letting the other staff member deal with it.

 

A user has threatened to DDos and take down the server. What do you do?

I would ban all associated users/user permanently to prevent the DDos. I would then contact other staff or the head Admin and inform them of the situation. Getting together with the other staff and verifying the situation, checking to see how many people may be connected to the threat. Calming the main player base down as to not crash the server and cause more issues. The staff team and I would make sure to narrow down the list of associated people. I would then move to verify the legitimacy of the threat, I would check their steam profile and see if they have any VAC bans while also reading some of the profile comments to get an idea of the players past. Checking to see if they had been banned on other severs as well. The course of action; depending if he contacts one of us or submits a ban appeal the user would remain banned until he decides to improve his behaviour and can show us that he is willing to play properly.

 

A Commander and Lieutenant are arguing in front of debrief. It is getting quite heated. The context to the argument is unknown to you. What do you do?

Assuming this is a regimental debrief or after event debrief. I would PM both players asking them to both calm down and continue on with their debrief, if they do not listen I would !bring [user] & [user]  away to a discrete location and ask one of the other people in the room to do debrief instead. I would ask them what the problem is between the two of them telling them to continue this privately in teamspeak or to just drop it and move on.

If a certain player is in the wrong I would contact the CO of their regiment to tell them about the disagreement, noting that both players should be watched for a bit to make sure it doesn’t sprawl into an RDM case.

If the argument starts up again I would give both players a verbal warning, stating that if they do not stop the next person to start it up again would be server warned for player harassment. !Warn [user] Reason: Player Harassment | Failure To Obey Staff

If one of the two people involved start to RDM the other I would quickly isolate the incident using !bring [user] & [user]  and telling another staff member to keep an eye on both their regiments to make sure they don't start RDMing each other. The person who shot first would get warned for ARDM & the person who killed the other would be warned for RDM. It can vary depending on who kills who or who shot first. I would use logs to check this.

 

A Cadet has been complaining and wandering around because he hasn't been trained yet. He doesn't appear to have any intent to role play. What do you do?

I would let everyone know that a cadet is in the cadet room and he needs a SGT to come down and train him, while a SGT comes to train him I would take up the opportunity to have a conversation with the player to pass time before a SGT can get to the room watching the cadet to make sure he complies with the SGT and follows the rules if he doesn't want cooperate with the SGT I'll pull him aside to have a chat stating that if he doesn't work with the SGT he will be warned. That will be his verbal. If he continues to have NITRP he will be warned with !warn [user] Reason: NITRP If he continues to not listen to the SGT/Staff I would move to !ban [user] [time] Reason: NITRP

If no SGT is present I would train him myself running him through the rules and training him. If he is unwilling to listen to me train him I will give him a verbal and if it continues move to a !warn [user] Reason: NITRP followed by !ban [user] [time] Reason: NITRP if they decide to keep going.

After the training is done I would spectate him to make sure he doesn’t ruin other peoples roleplay. As said he has no intention to RP so keeping an eye on him would be crucial.

If he decides to continue to have NITRP and starts causing issues for other players I would !bring [user] to a secluded spot to explain to him that people are just trying to have fun. If he appears to want to play the game properly I would let him go with a verbal. But if he shows no sign of wanting to RolePlay I'll give him a his first warning !Warn [user] NITRP explaining that he can’t just ruin other people’s time because he is bored.

Resuming spectating him once again, if I see any actions which is deemed NITRP I would move to !ban [user] [time] NITRP

I can see that you've put a lot of effort into this application, and you present your answers in a way that proves (to me at least) that you have the potential for a moderation position. So its gonna be a phat +1 from me.

I've interacted with Sydney ever since he first joined the server, here is my opinion regarding him. When he firstly joined the server, I only saw him as a minge, and a minge only, dealing with this man was my forte, but it wasn't easy. I was not impressed at his attitude in jedi and as a overall user. 

Over the months, I noticed Sydney actually trying not to minge and trying his best to become a better community user, and is incredibly friendly to whom what he previously was. He has reformed in my eyes, and could potentially become a good staff member if given the chance and the proper training from us. He started from a sketchy background, and I believe he is a different person today.

Although what I wrote the above is positive, I still have some feedback for you. I'd like to see you interacting with other community members more often. Perhaps just joining the teamspeak and hopping around channels and saying hello now and again. Perhaps interact more in OOC or the forums positively and I'm sure you'll be golden. You may have reformed in my eyes, but in others it may not. Nevertheless, I wish you good luck on your application.

Yeah Sydney has come a long way and it's been good to watch him grow. Always having a good laugh but also knows when to act properly for a given situation from what i have seen so far. I haven't had millions of interactions but from what I have encountered. He is obviously passionate about being a moderator and has shown good commitment so far. Being the new CO of medics should test his stress i would assume so it's a great way to see how well you can cope. Overall I give a +1 and could definitely see this man in the staff team.

I will parrot everything above in the statements that Sydney has definitely improved, and two months ago I would've given him a definitive -1. However, over these last couple of months, he has been a lot better, and has really grown on me. Whether or not Sydney is ready to be a moderator, I'm not sure, so I'm gonna go with a positive Neutral for now as I just think he should give it a bit more time. As for the application, it's really good, colour coded nicely with a great demonstration of ULX command knowledge. I really look forward to seeing Sydney improve even more to the point where he is completely suitable for this position 🙂

I understand that sydney comes off as a minge but i have not seen him abuse anyone before.
and if he has you should of done a report before hand
and sydney is just a fun bloke not a annoying minge cause if he was he wouldn't be Lieutenant Captain

@SydneyTerror has improved greatly recently and same goes with his maturity level, and has been very helpful to other players of the community when needing help and has shown that he wants to help the community one step forward by joining the moderation team and give an extra helping hand to the community.

 I believe @SydneyTerror would make a great asset to the moderation team +1 Good luck

Seen this guy have a massive ego but over the weeks I have seen this guy grow as a player and been helpful to other players in the server. He has improved as a community memeber and should be able to have a shot at trial mod. Good luck broski +1

Yo Syndey, I've had frequent interactions with you past week and heres my honest opinion.

You've definitely improved, however, my concern is how much you have actually improved. You see, the benefit of being Fox on the server is actually getting to frequently deal and rooting out the minges from those who put up a facade around others or those genuinely wanting to better themselves. Now, you're not the "facade" type of person and definitely not as bad as some other people, but I would definitely say to an extent you're... "mingey". Now, take this with a grain of salt but you have been arrested along with railgun more then probably a dozen times past couple weeks.

Now onto a more positive note, the app is solid, and one I would consider textbook and outstanding. You're a "fun" guy no doubt aswell as noticing you be friendly towards other users and you maintain a good activity. So, if after this, I will be watching you even more closely on the server as to see if you're really committed to the "Moderator" role.

Hi Sydney,

You worked really hard on this application and went to multiple staff members including me for feedback and I can see how you have taken on that feedback to improve your application. You are a very friendly and fun bloke to be around, only thing is, I have seen a bit of mingey aspects from you and unfortunately you have a bit of a rep for this. It isn't too bad though in my eyes, just be careful 🙂 In general though, I think you deserve this opportunity because I know you have been wanting to go for it for a while and you have worked hard on this application.

I also respect your efforts to improve your presence on the teamspeak and all that, your activity as well is fantastic. Keep up the great work, just be careful on some of the behaviour.

I would agree. But the intention is never to ruin the RP or harass other players. Railgun and I have the best intentions with our silly RP and we hope to continue to "work" with you for for the long run.

But in the hopes of becoming a T-Mod this would prove that I can better myself in the eyes of the community and it would give me something more to do on the server to keep me from minging. All I'm asking for is a shot.

Overall quite an outstanding application Sydney, it effectively reflects the dedication you have towards achieving the role. You have demonstrated important traits of a staff member recently and with your change of attitude (no longer a minge), I believe you would be a valuable contribution to the team. I recommend go hard with community involvement, expressing your keenness to help others out the best you can as a user to prove yourself ready for staff. +1

Sydney was a pretty mingy but over the couple of weeks he has improved on his minge and is doing good

When I think of a reformed player you genuinely are the person who comes to mind nowadays. You've done so well to remove the image that most people help you as of just a minge and you become quite a valued member of the community.

Your application is very well written its clear you have put time and effort into it, answers have been elaborated on quite a lot and you've put a lot of thought into the answers. Server activity is nothing to laugh at you are retarded active and I see you online all the time and actively doing stuff. I've seen you on multiple occasions being a very helpful hand in the community with the newer players and being quite a positive figure to teach them about the server. You still like to have a bit of fun sometimes that can border the line of minge on occasions but a lot of people still have that trait still even in the staff team, just ensuring its at the appropriate times and kept fairly on the downlow so it doesn't affect the players is the trick :~). Also to add, it really helps that you are also an extremely friendly player on the server even when you are having fun, I've never seen you do anything at anyone's expense even in your more mingey times.

Based on the effort I've witnessed you output over the last few weeks/months I can't find any reason not to give you a +1 as I personally think you are a very strong contender for the position.
