  • How known are you on a scale of 1-10?

  • How will you bring new and creative event ideas to the server?:

After playing for some number of years, I’ve had the experience of playing all types of Ops. This has led me to try to make RP more intense and use more tactics in events. Between reading a lot of star wars books and a love for the universe in a whole, I want to bring engaging stories that can follow close to the lore if not skewed for a bit of creative fun.
  • Have you participated in many of our Events?:

After having played roughly a dozen or so events. I have been able to have a pretty good handle on how Gateway Gaming events are run.
  • Are you familiar with Gmod's wide range of NPC tools?:

Yes, having experience as a EM has allowed me to learn about the various tools needed for EMs.

Name 3 tools that are at an Event Masters disposal within events and leave a small comment detailing each of their uses:

  • ADV Dupe - Capable of being one of the most important assets to an EM, Adv Dupe can quickly spawn outposts and objectives that allow events to be far more interesting rather than the default map.
  • NPC Tools - Responsible for the main attraction for events, the NPC Toolkit is a delicate tool capable of ruining the event or allowing the event’s enjoyment to thrive. From giving enemies too much health and ruining the pacing of the game, to making them too difficult, that allows the enemy to auto headshot you from across the map. Balancing the toolkits weaponry, spawn numbers, and difficulty is an easy way to make or break the event.
  • Vanilla’s Ship tools - Adding simple details to events can take them to a new level of enjoyment. Between Firing turbolasers as a way of area denial, to the simple feel of a heavy cruiser coming into orbit. Vanilla’s Ship tools allow EM’s an easy way to add extra details that allow the battlefield to feel more intense and immersive.
  • Are you aware of how much a Gmod server can take or how unstable Gmod truly is?:

Yes, having played Gmod for years I have become well acquainted with how temperamental Gmod and servers can be.
  • Do you understand that you are not allowed to abuse your staff rank's powers outside of events? Provide 3 examples detailing different situations that would be considered abuse:

Yes, I understand Staff Abuse is not Tolerated. Using noclip to infiltrate a base off limits to the event and teleporting your teammates into locked areas. Reading Admin chat for hints about how to cheat the event in order to give your unit an unfair advantage. Spawning in weapons and vehicles for personal use without the permission of the EM in charge.
  • Do you have any event experience? e.g. played a key character in an event before:

Between playing military commanders and politicians, I have played assisting EMs in events as actors running my own events
  • On a scale of 1-10, how much lore knowledge do you have?

    7
  • On a scale of 1-10, how familiar are you with ulx commands?

    8
  • Make a comment regarding the recent events on our server and how they have inspired you to become an event master:

While many events have been fun, I feel events are lacking in substance and the feel. Many of the events devolve into throwing bodies at a singular objective and doesn't allow regiments to shine in their roles. These were targeted issues back when I would run events and I know that if I bring those same tactics and plannings it can bring a new dimension to the current event structure.
  • Do you understand that most events rely mainly on improvisation and mainly nothing goes to plan (ever)?

Of course. My strategy is forming a foundation of objectives and goals and allow the COs to solve the problem in their own way. Even when this approach isn’t possible or ruined by others, managing the aftermath isn’t too difficult as long as you have backup plans.
  • How confident are you in providing briefings, debriefings, and in ensuring you're able to direct players throughout your events?

Extremely confident as our EMs would teach a structured event plan that allowed information to clearly be translated among all players in mission briefs and debriefs.
  • An event doesn't go to plan and General Grievous is crushed by an elevator. Players are laughing at you. What do you do?

CG or a security detail would disarm and arrest Grievous. CIS forces would make an increased push in order to capture the general. However if Troopers are still able to hold off the offensive. I would move to a second stage to either attempt a hostage capture of a regiment, and ransom. If the situation goes bad once again I would have Grievous escorted back to base/ship for interrogation and transport to a prison world escorted by (Actor) I would prefer to find a work around that rewards the players with an extra difficulty and use it to continue the RP.
  • A user is bad mouthing your events. How do you react?

Ignore the unhelpful comments and learn from the criticism. I would ask that people are comfortable messaging me or coming to talk to me about ways they think I can improve my style of making events.
  • You have to go AFK in the middle of an event you are running and there are no backups available. What should you have done to avoid this?

While I'm not sure why anyone would start an event and go AFK. If for some reason I had to leave for a bit I would inform the CO’s to lock down various areas. In those areas I would set the NPC spawners to spawn in multiple waves. Id request any actors or a specific regiment to be force jobbed into a droid unit and have them create unique assault plans to assist alongside the NPC spawners, either as vehicle drivers or special units.
  • Players and a few staff members are complaining about the amount of lag they're dealing with during your event. How do you resolve this?

Reduce extra props. Remove Props, bodies, decals, that have already been completed. Use set pieces that are low in prop count. Spawn a normal amount of NPCs that don’t over stress the current fights going on.
  • To conclude your app. you are required to create and design your own event. This includes planets, maps and stage actions. Include lots of detail in your event design. You are required to involve PassiveRP elements.

Hey mate, I read your application and it's spectacular. You have very detailed answers, and your event idea is a breath of fresh air, as it isn't just a typical "Go to A and slice B" event.

However, the single criticism I have is that you haven't really gotten yourself out in the community too much. Being staff, it is expected that to some extent, you are interacting with people from all kinds of different regiments. However, that's easy compared to having the attributes of a good EM like you have displayed in your application.

Right now i'll stay neutral, but once you get yourself out there more, i'd be happy to give you a +1

Hey Haven,

So thankfully I got the chance to meet you when you were first interested in pilots, you presented yourself to me as a kind, respectful guy and overall I really liked your attitude and friendliness. Generally, this application is pretty solid and I know you have had EM/EC experience, however.. I do believe you should get more hours up on the server and more importantly, play more events. A dozen events is actually very good, but I would recommend at least double that before making an application, mainly just to gain as many hours/experience you can on the server, and to get yourself a bit more out there. I wouldn't be too fuss that your not widely known, no one should expect that of you at this point and even when I first applied I was still in the NCO ranks of Pilots and was rarely known. I would recommend volunteering to play more ECs in events, this is a great way to get to know others as well as the EM team. My only other concern would be your activity, I don't see you on a heap and although being an EM is just ensuring you can do your events and are good quality, it is still good to be on the server/event server participating in others RP/Mini-events or actual event. Overall though, from the time I got to know you, like I said you seemed like someone who would be suitable for the role especially with your event making experience. I think at least you would deserve a trial phase but get those hours up because I am honestly not sure if they can let you in with 30 hours...

Best of luck man, and if you need any assistance, contact me. +1

Personally havent met you yet, your application/submission looks top-notch and you seem to be a capable event master. Will hope to see you ingame and assess how you do throughout the next few weeks.

Neutral until I can see how you are in-game

I've seen that you've been reaching out and asking regiments about their certain playstyle in order to meet the specific needs of the playerbase, which is a great sign that players will enjoy your events if you're able to cater to what the players actually want.

Certainly a +1 for me, I wish you the best for your application.
