Prerequisites:

Do you have Teamspeak 3 Installed?

Yes

Do you enjoy helping other people?

Very much

Are you willing to test your stress?

Yes. I have a high stress tolerance.

Age? (Minimum of 14 years of age.):

 16

List your current playtime (Minimum of 80 Hours): (Click Here)

103 hours, joined about 2 months ago.

Are you willing to learn new ways to approach situations?

I always welcome new methods of approaching situations with open arms. I appreciate others who pass on their experience and knowledge to me and I hope to become a mentor for others as well.

Do you have any active warns?

No. I have not received any warns on any server ever. (As far as I know)

Do you have a problem with any of our current staff members?

No. I work well with many people, and if I do have a personal issue without a member of the community, I am able to move past that and act with no bias when needed. I generally get along well with everyone.

Requirements:

Steam ID:

  Steam_0:0:160091215

Steam Profile Link:

Current in game alias / rank:

Sergeant 6611 Stingel. (I reached Gunnery SGT in 104th before it was disbanded)

How known are you on a scale of 1-10 (10 being everyone knows you):

 6. I mainly keep to myself on the server as my RP character is not extremely social, but endeavor to begin to mix with more people to become more known.

How will you becoming a moderator make an impact on the community?

I am extremely active, especially during non school days, I am normally on the entire day from around 9am. With my availability I will be able to provide support during times that there may not be many other staff online, as well I have had experience in being a mediator. This role involves creating ways for both parties involved in a dispute to talk with each other and settle their own disagreements. As well as this skill, I value social justice very highly and always seek to make our members feel supported. I will make it known that I am open for discussion about anything at anytime and will endeavor to build trust within the community.

Do you believe you're able to deal with individuals and situations in a completely unbiased manner?

Yes. I am able to turn off any bias towards people, friend or foe, when required. I take professionalism very seriously and will continue to act with respect and courtesy to all players as I currently do already. I believe all members of our community deserve their say and I will take it as my responsibility to listen to them as well as be a voice for them if they request so.

Do you use our Teamspeak server often?

Yes, Almost every day when I am on the server I am also in my regiment’s ts channel.

Do you understand that as a member of the Staff Team, your position may be subject to change and / or termination should you not be performing to the degree stipulated?

Yes. I fully understand this and accept any change and termination to my position if I do not perform to the highest degree.

Situations:

- These answers are just what I believe would be correct. During my trial moderator phase, I will request training from experienced staff and would learn Gateway’s exact procedures and of course would apply those processes into these situations.

1. A user is RDMing and insulting other users. You are the only staff available to deal with the situation. What do you do?

I would !bring [Name] to a private location and speak with them. I would check /logs to see the facts and then follow up by asking for their side of the story. If they give a reasonable explanation I will conduct a more thorough investigation by !bringing [Name] who reported them for RDMing and if needed, any witnesses. I would hear all sides of the story, and with that information, decide if anyone is guilty. If no one is of blame, I will !return [Names] and make sure to keep an eye on [Names]. If someone is to blame, I will explain that they were breaking server rules and I must warn them. I would notify them that if they continue to do these actions, more severe consequences will follow. After I !return [Name], I would continue to keep an eye on them, ensuring that they do not act up. If they continue RDMing and insulting users, I will !bring [Name] back to the private location, explain what they have done, and their punishment. Once it is clear they understand the situation I will !ban [Name]. (Don’t know the exact amount of days.)

2. A user has contested a warn you have given him and proceeds to verbally abuse you, what do you do?

I would !bring [Name] and try to calm them down and ask why they believe the warn is unfair. I will then explain why I issued the warning and perhaps reevaluate the warning if I believe it was incorrect. I acknowledge that I am merely human and that we all make mistakes. If the user continues to verbally abuse me I will inform them that they are abusing a staff member which is a warnable offense. If this conduct continues, I would !warn them for staff abuse. Once the sit is finished, I would !return [Name]

3. A user has threatened to DDos and take down the server. What do you do?

I would immediately !ban [Name] from the server and then alert more senior, experienced staff with a detailed, thorough report of the situation.

4. A Commander and Lieutenant are arguing in front of debrief. It is getting quite heated. The context to the argument is unknown to you. What do you do?

If the argument is within RP parimetres, I would not intervene as those arguments can be RP friendly. However if they are arguing about ooc issues or insulting each other on a personal level instead of RP level, then I would request they stay on topic for the db. If they refuse and keep arguing, I would !bring [Names] to a private area and mediate the argument trying to reach an agreement between the two. This would involve, hearing the two sides of the story and trying to reach a conclusion that both parties are happy with. I would administer a verbal warning, explaining that they need to act as role models for the server due to their rank and arguing, especially in front of a debrief, is unacceptable. I would only consider issuing a warning, kick, or ban, if the either party took it too far, or if they began abusing myself as a staff member. Before issuing those consequences, I would explain why first.

5. A Cadet has been complaining and wandering around because he hasn't been trained yet. He doesn't appear to have any intent to role play. What do you do?

I can not assume that he has no intent to rp so I request a SGT+ to train the cadet. If no one volunteers I would become more forceful to ensure the cadet is trained, or, I would train them myself. Once the cadet is trained, I would keep an eye on [Name] to see if his attitude has changed, if he still has no intent to RP, then I would !bring [Name] aside and ask if there was a reason he had no intent to RP. I would try to help the user and persuade them to begin role playing, however if unsuccessful, I would !warn [Name] for their behavior. If [Name] continued to show no intent for RP, I would again explain what he was doing and !ban [Name] for 1 day.

Any feedback is welcomed and I will make those edits.

Overall it is a good application, but there are some areas where you can improve I would say. The first thing I would say to improve on is to increase your scenarios cause one thing you would learn from being a staff member is that even the easiest sits would not always end the same way so that would be number one. Number two is to add some sort of Key which would make it easier for the audience to read the and understand the commands you use during the sit. Final thing I would say you would improve is to show that you're there and willing to help and just show people they can come to you and talk to you. So good luck for now but It would have to be a neutral from me.
Sincerely,

Bobby

Thankyou Bobby for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I would just like to touch on the 3 points you brought up.
- Is there any specific area in my scenarios that need more explaining and detail? I just added some stuff then, but wasn't aware of much missing. This is my first time applying for moderator, in the past I've always been an EM, so I'm not super familiar with what consequences are worthy of what actions, hence I may have left it slightly more vague.
- I already have a Key, it can be found at the very top of my application, below the Gateway logo. Would you recommend I move it elsewhere?
- Thank you for letting me know that I had not emphasized my willingness to help others and in general be there for the community. It was so clear that was what I wanted to do, I must not have communicated it through my words, however I have added some stuff in to make it clear that my main objective is service to our community and want people to come to me if they ever have something on their mind.

Thankyou again Bobby for your feedback, if there's any further points you have, I would love to hear them.

I saw you a few days ago asking for help with your app which is good to me, seems like you're taking it serious. As for the app, I like the detail and usage of ULX. The formatting seems easy enough, my only problem is I don't really see you a LOT. Maybe just use ooc a bit more and comms during events. Try and walk up to people and engage in conversations, ask how peoples days are going etc. For now until you get out there a bit more (in my eyes) I'll be leaving a Neutral rating. Good luck mate.

Thank you for the feedback Ace. I totally understand your reasoning for giving neutral. I haven't engaged with many people other then those in my two regiments and a few others, mainly due to the type of rp character I play. I'm surprised that you consider I don't use comms much as I use it quite ALOT, talk to any one in my regiment and they'll vouch for that XD. But in terms of ooc conversations and in general connecting with the wider community I have done poorly at this. This week, this has come to my attention and I am trying hard to put myself out there and socialise with the community as much as possible. Thankyou again for your response, and I hope to see you on the server.

Since my last post Thursday, I've been focusing on seeing your comms and ooc work a lot more. That's improved a fair amount so my rating will be changing from Neutral to a +1.

From what I've seen of you, you seem pretty chill and nice with people on the server and on ts. application is well made and it shows that you've put a lot of time and dedication to make it look good.

Stingel is a great guy, he is respectful in all situations. When i talk to him he seems like he actually cares, he has supported me in improving my reputation and i wish for him to be rewarded for all his great work.

The Application itself is clear, descriptive and professional.

I see Stingel always on when he can, keeping his activity very high, he also communicates in OOC a lot and checks up on people. I have also noticed that he has a great interest in the well-being of the server and the people in it, trying to make sure that they are enjoying themselves.

Overall I give this a +1

Hey @Stingel,

First off I will touch on TS, your personality, attitude and behaviour. I have seen you super active on TS, however, this may just be me but I primarily only see you in the 187th channel. While you are active on TS, I personally haven't have many conversations with you (apart from Andy utilizing his full TS powers to move me into the 187th channel that one time). But for that one conversation I had with you, you were welcoming and polite. For personality, attitude and behaviour, I cannot really note on it, as I haven't had many interactions with you. I would love that to change, but this will factor into my overall opinion regarding your staff application.

In regards to your application.

For your second question, just a little thing to note or be aware of. Whenever there is someone contesting a major decision you made, it is always good to have another staff member on hand. Doing so provides you with an on-hand second opinion, and shows the user that you and the server staff are taking the complaint seriously. It is a lot easier for someone else to tell the person contesting the warn they are wrong, then you arguing or explaining an idea or concept to a person already hostile towards you. Additionally, bias is always a problem when making decisions. When there is verbal abuse against you, to make sure the decision is as close to correct as possible, having a staff member take the sit instead of you eliminates bias and means a decision is more often than not, reached with a level mind.

Apart from that, your application is written well, it flows and there is no visible spelling or punctuation errors I can see. However, as I cannot speak much of your attitude or behaviour, I will have to remain neutral on your application. Should I develop an understanding of your character, I am very happy and willing to change that decision.

Good luck on your application.

Stingel is active, friendly and approachable by all. He engages with others regularly in a positive manner but knows where the line is in terms of messing around. His app shows he is knowledgeable in his ulx and it is presented in a clear and easy to read way.

Thank you for your feedback Khai, I have recently begun my endeavor of getting to know everyone in the community better and hoping you and I can catch up in TS etc. I hope with future interaction between us, you will develop an understanding on my character and behavior.

As for the feedback on Question 2, that makes a lot of sense and I would definitely implement that in my process of actions.

I've started to take notice of you on the server, but I really still don't feel you kicking out of your regimental bubble. During this time it's good to lay groundwork and get to know everyone, don't expect staff to come to you as they've already done all that and proven themselves. The expectation is very much on you to get out there into different groups and introduce yourself, otherwise if nobody really knows you they cannot vote properly on you.

Hope to hear from you on teamspeak soon.
